While Apple prepares to wrap up two of its best hits of 2022 so far – Servant and The Afterparty – this month also ushers in an increasingly star-studded and ambitious line-up of originals, from Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway in a WeWork drama to Samuel L Jackson in a novel adaptation, not to mention a globe-trotting epic that may prove to have universal appeal.

Here’s what’s coming soon to Apple TV+ UK in April 2022:

Slow Horses: Season 1 – 1st April

The six-episode drama, adapted from Mick Herron’s first novel in the Slow Horses series, Slow Horses follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 – Slough House. Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes. Joining Oldman is a decorated ensemble cast including Kristin Scott Thomas (Darkest Hour), Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes), Jack Lowden (Dunkirk) and Olivia Cooke (Sound of Metal).

Doug Unplugs: Season 2, Part 2 – 1st April

Hailing from DreamWorks Animation and based on Dan Yaccarino’s books, Doug Unplugs follows a young robot named Doug who senses there’s more to life than just the facts. While other robots plug in for their daily download, curious Doug unplugs and journeys into the human world, and with his best friend Emma, experiences its wonders firsthand. The voice cast includes Brandon James Cienfuegos, Kyrie McAlpin, Eric Bauza, Mae Whitman, Leslie David Baker and Becky Robinson. All episodes arrive at once.

Pinecone & Pony: Season 1 – 8th April

Based on Kate Beaton’s children’s picture book The Princess and the Pony, Pinecone & Pony is an adventure led by two independent warriors who are fearlessly themselves. All episodes arrive at once.

Roar: Season 1 – 15th April

Based on the book by Cecelia Ahern and led by female talent in front of and behind the camera, Roar explores experiences that many women have but rarely talk about. From bite marks to ducks, each of the 8 episodes uses magical realism and delivers an insightful, poignant, and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today. The anthology series stars Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Issa Rae, Merritt Wever, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward. All episodes arrive at once.

They Call Me Magic: Season 1 – 22nd April

The real story of a legend. This four-part documentary event offers an intimate look at the life and legacy of Earvin “Magic” Johnson. All episodes arrive at once.

Shining Girls: Season 1 – 29th April

This metaphysical thriller, adapted from Lauren Beukes’ novel by showrunner Silka Luisa, follows Kirby Mazrachi (Elisabeth Moss) as a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic ambitions were put on hold after enduring a traumatic assault. When Kirby learns that a recent murder mirrors her own case, she partners with seasoned, yet troubled reporter Dan Velazquez (played by Wagner Moura), to uncover her attacker’s identity. As they realize these cold cases are inextricably linked, their own personal traumas and Kirby’s blurred reality allow her assailant to remain one step ahead. Co-starring Phillipa Soo, Amy Brenneman and Jamie Bell, the series is directed by Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad). The first three episodes arrive together, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday.
