What’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in May 2021?

It’s not often that The Underground Railroad and Pokémon Detective Pikachu get mentioned in the same sentence, but that range marks Amazon Prime Video’s May line-up as something quite distinctive, with Barry Jenkins’ new series arriving in the same month as Ryan Reynolds’ Pokémon movie, a new documentary from Matthew Heineman, a star-studded anthology series and a film about Sir Alex Ferguson.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in May 2021:
ATP Mutua Madrid Open – 2nd May to 9th May
The mens’ tour continues with the clay court tournament at Caja Magica, Madrid.
John Wick: Chapter 2 – 3rd May
John Wick’s kick-ass action sequel is armed with a lethal sense of humour.
Grey’s Anatomy: Season 16 – 4th May
Your chance to catch up with the penultimate season of the the long-running medical drama.
The Boy from Medellín – 7th May
From the Oscar-nominated director Matthew Heineman, this documentary gives us a close-up look at influential reggaeton star J Balvin, as he prepares for a sold-out concert in his hometown of Medellín, Colombia.
ATP Italian Open – 9th May to 16th May
The mens’ tour moves to Rome for the Italian Open.
WTA Italian Open – 10th May to 16th May
All the top 41 players of the WTA ranking are registered to take part in the 78th edition of the womens’ Italian Open.
The Underground Railroad: Season 1 – 14th May
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Colson Whitehead, this 10-episode drama from Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) chronicles Cora Randall’s (newcomer Thuso Mbedu) desperate bid for freedom in the antebellum South. After escaping a Georgia plantation for the rumoured Underground Railroad, Cora discovers no mere metaphor, but an actual railroad full of engineers and conductors, and a secret network of tracks and tunnels beneath the Southern soil. Expect something truly special.
Pokémon Detective Pikachu – 19th May
Ryan Reynolds’ energetic vocals and a witty script make this unlikely Pokémon movie a surprising delight.

P!NK: All I Know So Far – 21st May
This documentary from The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey follows P!nk as she balances family and life on the road in the run-up to her first Wembley Stadium performance in her 2019 Beautiful Trauma world tour.
Love, Weddings & Other Disasters – 26th May
Diane Keaton and Jeremy Irons star in this romantic comedy about a fussy celebrity caterer, a blind woman, a tour-bus guide and an inexperienced wedding planner searching for love.
Panic: Season 1 – 28th May
