Every month we bring you a round-up of the best future releases on Amazon Prime Instant Video. For May, the new releases are as diverse as ever, ranging from animated animals and Kevin Spacey to 50-foot women. And Kevin Spacey.
Here are the top 7 things coming soon to Amazon Prime Instant Video this month:
Pay It Forward – Friday 9th May
Haley Joel Osment fans rejoice! Pay It Forward is the film that he starred in that wasn’t The Sixth Sense. The story of a young boy who convinces people to spread acts of kindness, it’s manipulative, sentiment stuff, but it features a top performance from Kevin Spacey – who couldn’t be less like Francis Underwood.
Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman – Friday 9th May
Nathan Hertz directs this classic 1958 monster movie. In which the monster is a woman who becomes embiggened after an encounter with aliens. You don’t need to know more than that to decide if this is right up your street. Did we mention the part with the 50 ft. woman?
The Jungle Book – Friday 23rd May
Who doesn’t love The Jungle Book? Put your hands up. Yes. You. We don’t want to be like you.
The Jungle Book (1994) – Friday 23rd May
For those who prefer there jungles a little less booky and more live-actiony, this 1994 adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s story, directed by Stephen The Mummy Sommers, may be more to your taste. Where else can you find Lena Headey, Sam Neill, The Princess Bride’s Cary Elwes AND John Cleese all in the same film?
A Bug’s Life – Friday 23rd May
A Bug’s Life is an early Pixar, but it stand up surprisingly well. Following failed inventor Flik as he attempts to save his colony from an evil grasshopper – Kevin Spacey, again – it’s an amusing adventure full of beautiful creepy crawlies and, for Frasier fans, a supporting turn from David Hyde Pierce as a stick.
Ghosts of the Abyss – Friday 30th May
This 2003 documentary sees director James Cameron return to the wreck of the Titanic with a crew of experts, photographers and, erm, Bill Paxton. It was created for IMAX cinemas, but the ship’s submerged ruins are still impressive on the small screen.
