What’s leaving Amazon Prime Video UK in July / August 2016?
David Farnor | On 26, Jul 2016
Summer is usually the dead season for TV fans, but it has been kind to Amazon Prime Video in he UK, with a wave of exclusive shows bringing new episodes every week, such as Mr. Robot and BrainDead. But older titles are bidding farewell too, as their streaming rights expire on the site.
Amazon doesn’t like to divulge its exact departure dates, but each of the below will be leaving the service’s line-up in the coming 30 days – so consider this a nudge to get on with watching something sooner rather than later.
This is your last chance to stream the following:
Superman
Not a fan of Zack Snyder’s reboot of the Superman franchise? Go back to the primary colour appeal of Richard Donner’s original while you can.
Young Adam
Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton star in David Mackenzie’s drama about an amoral driver who has an affair with an unhappily married woman.
The Exorcist
The scariest movie ever made? The Exorcist just might be, not because it’s a story of possession, but because it’s a study of one troubled priest’s faith, as it comes up against an extremely powerful dark force.
The Island
Nothing says “summer movie season” better than a Michael Bay film. The director’s underrated thriller stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson as a couple who break out of a top-secret compound, only to stumble into a deceptively smart sci-fi B-movie plot about stem-cell research.
Orphan Black: Season 1
Tatiana Maslany is excellent in this sci-fi thriller about Sarah, a woman who discovers that she is one of many clones – a story that has gripped so many audiences that Netflix has since bought the show as a UK exclusive.
Top of the Lake: Season 1
Elisabeth Moss makes the most of her chance to step out of her Mad Men shoes in Jane Campion’s series, which sees Detective Robin Griffin return to her New Zealand hometown to solve the disappearance of a local teen. Gripping stuff.
The Rover
David Michôd directs Guy Pearce, Robert Pattinson, Scoot McNairy in this dystopian Western that follows the aftermath of civilisation, after the rule of law has disintegrated.
