It’s the end of 2015 as we know it and so, before we start to look ahead to what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in 2016, let’s take a moment to look back at the titles about to depart from the site’s streaming line-up.

There are old Christmas gems and modern world cinema classics, not to mention TV shows such as Battlestar Galactica and Californication. Some dates aren’t confirmed yet – 12 Years a Slave, for example, will be removed at some point in the next few months – but consider this a heads-up to make sure you catch things while you can. That’s especially the case for parents, whose kids may soon be missing the Cartoon Network shows that also recently expired on Netflix UK, from Adventure Time and Regular Show to Samurai Jack and Ben 10.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – 30th December

Amazon gives its seasonal selection a much-needed boost with National Lampoon’s seasonal comedy, which sees Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid and more strive to gift-wrap the perfect Christmas for the Griswold family.

The Broken Circle Breakdown – 30th December

“If I needed you, would you comfort me?”

That was a question asked 30 odd years ago by Hank Williams – but never like this. The Broken Circle Breakdown follows the trials of Elise (Veerie Beatens) and Didier (Johan Heldenberg). She a religious tattoo artist, him an atheist with a taste for country music, they fall in love immediately and she ends up joining his group – The Broken Circle Bluegrass Band. That’s when things go wrong. And they keep going wrong for 110 years. Blue Valentine with country music? This is heartbreaking, powerful stuff.

Se7en – 30th December

“Ernest Hemingway once wrote, ‘The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.’ I agree with the second part.” David Fincher’s second film may still be his best, following Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt’s odd-couple detectives investigating a string of horrifying, religious killings.

Dial M for Murder – 30th December

Grace Kelly and Ray Milland star in this Hitchcock classic, which sees a former tennis pro plan to bump off his wife. It’s not top-tier Hitch, but this tense thriller is still a cut above many.

Drug War – 30th December

Johnnie To’s action thriller about a police officer who teams up with a drug lord to get the cartel boss to betray his accomplices is as gripping as it is stylish. In other words, exactly what you expect from the director.
