As another month draws to a close, we prepare to bid farewell to films and TV shows on the various subscription services in the UK. Amazon Prime’s churn of titles is more active than most, mainly because they tend to only acquire the rights for films a few months at a time, then bring them back again a few months after that.

As a result, it’s often difficult to keep an eye on what’s coming and going. But we’ve managed to track down the films leaving Amazon’s subscription service in the coming days and weeks. The exact date of departure isn’t confirmed for many of them, but we’ve included dates where we can.

And so, without further ado, here’s a list of what’s exiting Amazon Prime UK in October and November 2015.

Prom – 26th October

A group of teenagers get ready for their high school prom in Disney’s harmless teen rom-com. Think High School Musical, without the musical.

Blancanieves – 27th October

After Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman, you couldn’t be blamed for being sick of Snow White and her seven flipping dwarves. But Blancanieves is Snow White like you’ve never seen it: it’s Spanish. And silent. And black-and-white. And it features a chicken called Pepe. In short, it’s fantastic.

Antonio Villalta is a bullfighting legend, but when he is injured in a horrible goring and his wife dies during childbirth, his career is suddenly over. Can plucky young daughter Carmencita pick up his cloak where he left off? To do so, she’ll have to get past her evil step-mum. And team up with seven bullfighting dwarves.

If the phrase “seven bullfighting dwarves” doesn’t make you smile, we can’t be friends.

After Lucia – 27th October

Michel Franco’s portrait of a bullied schoolgirl, whose mother has recently passed away, leaving her and her dad to move to a new town, makes for disturbing, brilliant viewing.

Bait – 28th October

Sharks in a supermarket? This Australian horror flick – originally designed to be released in 3D – is as trashy and stupid as you could possibly hope for. Sharks in a supermarket. What’s not to like?

Monsters, Inc. – 12th November

Are monsters more terrified of us than we are of them? That’s the cute starting point for Pixar’s fluffy flick, which sees John Goodman and Billy Crystal play a double-act of scarers, whose job is to make enough kids scream to provide power for the city. A beautiful piece of world-building and a cute slice of emotion make this a charming Disney adventure that’s definitely not terrifying.

The Kings of Summer – 17th November

Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ wonderful coming-of-age flick is an indie flick that doesn’t think small. A rounded, moving and laugh-out-loud tale of men not becoming men, it covers everything from building your own house to Blanca from Street Fighter in a delightful whirl of whimsy and charm. To the Wonder – Leaving Soon

“I don’t expect anything – just to go a little way together.” That’s Marisa (Olga Kurylenko) whispering to Neil (Ben Affleck), the man who convinced her to move to the US with him and her daughter. That’s how you can tell it’s a Terrence Malick film: most of the dialogue is whispered, usually in a field full of long grass. At sunset. At times, this drama borders on self-parody – but if you’re going to watch a filmmaker parody himself, make sure it’s Terrence Malick.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – Leaving Soon

Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman singing? Put aside any misgivings you may have: Stephen Sondheim and Tim Burton prove to be dream partners in this take on his gory musical, which waltzes wildly between laughs and shocks. (Read our full review.)

Green Lantern – Leaving Soon

Based on the DC comic, Ryan Reynolds plays a cocky test pilot, Hal Jordan, who is granted an alien ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers that inducts him into an intergalactic police force, the Green Lantern Corps. It might not be good, but this is one of several high-profile Warner Bros. films that flies on and off the service.

Invictus – Leaving Soon

Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon star in Clint Eastwood’s biopic about South Africa’s hosting of the Rugby World Cup in 1995, following the end of apartheid.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 – Leaving Soon

Batman’s animated outings in recent years have been almost uniformly excellent. The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 is another strong addition to the line-up.

Trick R’ Treat – Leaving Soon

If you’ve been unimpressed by the later entries in the V/H/S franchise, check out this superior 2007 horror anthology, which stitches together four separate stories and boasts a cast that includes Anna Paquin and Brian Cox.

Mars Attacks! – Leaving Soon

Tim Burton takes on aliens in this wonderfully warped sci-fi, which sees hostile extra-terrestrials invade the planet – only to be fought off by Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Tom Jones (playing Tom Jones) and Jack Nicholson as the President of the United States.

The Iron Giant – Leaving Soon

This 1999 Warner Bros. animation follows a young boy, Hogarth, who discovers an iron giant that has fallen from space. Scored by the legendary Michael Kamen and directed by The Incredibles’ Brad Bird, this is a loving adaptation of Ted Hughes’ book. The fact that Vin Diesel voices the gigantic robot is a bonus.

The Towering Inferno – Leaving Soon

Steve McQueen and Paul Newman fought for equal billing on the poster of this iconic blockbuster about a skyscraper threatening to topple in a fire – although their presence is arguably upstaged by the presence of O. J. Simpson as the building’s Chief Security Officer. If you like disaster movies and haven’t seen this, you’re missing a genre classic.
