Christian Slater, Vanessa Hudgens, Joe Manganiello are among the star-studded names that have joined Netflix’s Army of the Dead anime.
Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas is a spinoff series that serves as a prequel to Zack Snyder’s upcoming 2021 zombie action heist Army of the Dead. The anime series chronicles the origin story of Scott (Dave Bautista) and his rescue crew during the initial fall of Vegas as they confront the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak.
Bautista was announced as reprising his role from the movie last month, along with co-stars Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell. Now, they’ve got company, with Joe Manganiello (Justice League) cast as Rose, Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) as Torrance, Harry Lennix (The Blacklist) as Boorman, Ross Butler (13 Reasons Why) as Chen, Anya Chalotra (The Witcher) as Lucilia, Vanessa Hudgens (Tick, Tick … Boom!) as Willow, Jena Malone (Antebellum) as Zeta, Yetide Badaki (American Gods) as Queen Meeru, Christina Wren (Man of Steel) as Nicole, Monica Barbaro (The Good Cop) as Meagan and Nolan North (Star Trek: Lower Decks) as Clemenson.
The series will be Executive Produced by Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Wesley Coller from The Stone Quarry alongside Jay Olivia and Shay Hatten. Zack Snyder will direct 2 episodes. Jay Oliva (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and upcoming Netflix Original Anime Series Trese) will be showrunner as well as directing 2 episodes of the series.
Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead spawns prequel and anime series

Zack Snyder is expanding his Army of the Dead universe at Netflix with a new anime series and a prequel film.
The Justice League and Dawn of the Dead helmer has assembled a star cast for his zombie action heist flick, which is set in LA during an undead apocalypse. The film will debut on Netflix in 2021, but it’s already spawned a film prequel and anime series.
Shay Hatten, one of the writers of the screenplay for Army of the Dead, will write the prequel as well as the series. The prequel will be directed by and star Grimme Award winner Matthias Schweighöfer and will follow his Army of the Dead character Ludwig Dieter. The movie will be based in Germany and produced by Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder and Wesley Coller of The Stone Quarry and Matthias Schweighöfer and Dan Maag of PANTALEON Films.
“It has already been a great pleasure to be part of this wonderful ensemble around Zack Synder – a fascinating project. I am happy that it is now being developed on so many different levels”, said Schweighöfer.
