YouTube Premium lines up French and German Originals

YouTube Premium is lining up its first wave of French and German Originals.
YouTube’s subscription streaming package, which offers access to YouTube Originals series and movies, a streaming music platform (YouTube Music Premium), and an ad-free experience across all of YouTube, began life as a US-only affair. It is only natural, then, that it has rooted most of its original output in US bloggers with a built-in fan following. With the service now available in the UK and further afield, though, YouTube Premium is thinking globally, and is starting to usher in new exclusive and original titles from other countries, starting with France and Germany.
From David Hasselhoff competing to be the host of a fictitious variety show to trouble-making teenagers who get special powers and join The Resistance in WWII, to a comedy set in a gas station with a bespoke soundtrack from Germany’s top rapper… here’s the slate of new international originals available to stream from today:
Groom
The son of a wealthy hotelier must become a bellboy to reclaim his inheritance. The comedy follows the life of a grand hotel where internal wars, romantic relationships and a total lack of professionalism often put the welfare of hotel guests on the backburner.
Les Emmerdeurs
In a French village occupied by the Nazis in 1942, four irresponsible teenagers suddenly gain superpowers and join the Resistance. During their adventures these “Troublemakers” learn to accept the consequences of their powers, of their actions, and learn to work as a team. Les Emmerdeurs has been selected for the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, France.
Neuland
A fictitious multi-format variety show where David Hasselhoff plays a series regular competing with Phil Laude to be the show’s host, and will do anything to get his way.
Lefloid vs the World
Outspoken YouTube creator LeFloid takes on the hottest and most discussed topics in the world, from political commentary to pop culture. Show guests include NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki and world-famous band Imagine Dragons.
Bullsprit
A scripted comedy homage to a German movie classic, this follows the story of BSTV’s frontmen gaining accidental fame through public broadcast of their newly-acquired gas station CCTV system. Germany’s top rapper, Haftbefehl, created a bespoke soundtrack for the show.
