Wuaki.tv will offer videos in 4k ultra high definition by the end of 2014.
The VOD service will unveil its UHD app at IFA this week in partnership with LG and Samsung. Wuaki.tv will launch the app on selected models of two manufacturers, who are already existing partners with the VOD company, and confirmed that it will also provide “an all new user interface”.
The 4K content, which will be introduced “before the end of the year”, will be available in Spain and the UK, where Wuaki.tv currently operates, as well as France, Germany and Italy, where Wuaki.tv plans to expand in the near future.
“Offering our content in 4K UHD is one of our most important and relevant strategic moves for Wuaki.tv,” comments CTO Jordi Miró. “It reflects two of our biggest objectives; to stand out in the market with superior technology, and to offer our viewers the most satisfying movie experience.:
In addition to the new 4K content, Wuaki.tv revealed its new app for the current range of Smart TVs where the service is already available. The new app includes an improved user interface that combines the “best features of interactive TV with the performance of the best smart TVs”, including streamlined e-commerce systems, the ability to easily browse through the different streaming options – rental and purchase – Wuaki.tv offers, and a new feature that recommends content based on the user profile.
Roger Bretos, Chief Design Officer, adds: “We have been working hard to come up with this innovative interface which really matches our user’s requirements, since it enhances the user’s experience, is comfortable to use, and visually pleasant. We accomplished a great challenge for my team so I’m particularly proud of it.”
