Wuaki.tv has launched a channel on Roku UK.
The new app allows consumers to rent or purchase popular TV shows and movies from the online pay-per-view store.
The European streaming service currently has more than 3.3 million registered users across the continent. Consumers can rent or buy movies and TV shows directly on their Roku streaming player starting from £4.49. Current titles include recent blockbusters such as Deadpool, The Revenant and Spotlight or TV shows such as Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad.
Wuaki.tv marks the latest in a growing number of transactional VOD stores available on Roku’s UK streaming devices, with Sky Store already part of its 2,500-strong line-up of apps. Other apps include YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, NOW, Sky Store, Google Play, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 and My5, making Roku one of the most comprehensive streaming boxes and sticks around.
“Welcoming Wuaki.tv to the Roku streaming platform in both UK and Ireland enriches the content offering for these countries with some of the most talked about TV shows and movies. Wuaki.tv offers each country a localized and diverse catalogue movies and TV shows from all major studios,” says Ed Lee, vice president of content acquisition at Roku.
“Our goal is to get Wuaki.tv on all popular connected TV platforms, which clearly includes Roku,” comments Sidharth Jayant, Global Product Director at Rakuten Wuaki.tv. “Since the launch of Wuaki.tv we have seen tremendous growth in these markets. There is strong demand for streaming content.”
The app can be found in the Movies & TV category in the Roku Channel Store.
