“I’m tired of people thinking I’m some kind of joke.” That’s the sound of Daniel Radcliffe stepping into the shoes of “Weird Al” Yankovic – and a new trailer gives us a look at the offbeat biopic.
The film sees the Swiss Army Man and Lost City star continue his run of wonderfully unpredictable roles with the unexaggerated true story about – and we quote from the film’s official synopsis – “the greatest musician and sex symbol of our time”. Directed by Eric Appel from a script by Eric Appel and “Weird Al” Yankovic – and produced by Funny Or Die and Tango – the film follows Al’s journey from a conventional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin to the point at which he rebelled and made his dream of changing the words to world-renowned songs come true. An instant success and sex symbol, Al lives an excessive lifestyle and pursues an infamous romance that nearly destroys him.
The film co-stars Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld, Across the Universe) as Madonna and Rainn Wilson (The Office, The Meg) as Dr Demento. You can see them in action on 4th November, when the film streams exclusively for free on The Roku Channel. For more information on The Roku Channel and how to get it, click here.
