Four Weddings and a Funeral set for UK TV release on STARZPLAY

The Four Weddings and a Funeral TV series finally has a UK TV home – and a UK release date to boot.
STARZPLAY, the premium streaming service from Starz, has acquired the rights to Mindy Kaling’s adaptation of Richard Curtis’ romantic comedy.
The 10-part series follows Maya (Natalie Emmanuel), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, who receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London she leaves her professional and personal life behind. Travelling to England she reconnects with her old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises.
Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings… and a funeral.
The series stars Natalie Emmanuel (Game Of Thrones, Maze Runner), Nikesh Patel (India Summer, Artemis Fowl), John Reynolds (Stranger Things, Search Party), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, The Mindy Project), Brandon Mychal Smith (The Most Hated Woman In America, Dirty Grandpa), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey), Sophia La Porta (Been So Long, The Fades), Guz Khan (Man Like Mobeen) and Andie MacDowell (Love After Love, Sex, Lies and Videotape) and Dermot Mulroney (Homecoming). Four Weddings and a Funeral is executive produced by Mindy Kaling, Tracey Wigfield, Richard Curtis, Jonathan Prince, Matt Warburton, Howard Klein of 3Arts Entertainment, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall (Episodes 1 & 2).
The series will launch exclusively in the UK on STARZPLAY on Thursday 12th December. STARZPLAY is available on the Apple TV app, Prime Video Channels and Virgin Media and gives subscribers access to acclaimed series such as Mr. Mercedes, Ramy and Batman prequel Pennyworth, for £4.99 a month.

Four Weddings and a Funeral will return to our screens soon, but not as you know it: Hulu’s adapting the Richard Curtis into a rom-com series.
Created by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, the show stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and John Paul Reynolds and follows four American friends who reunite for a wedding in London.
Maya (Nathalie Emmanuel), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate, Ainsley’s (Rebecca Rittenhouse), now living in the UK capital. Coming off a devastating heartbreak, she leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favour of traveling to England. While in town, Maya reconnects with her old college friends, Craig (Brandon Mychal Smith) and Duffy (John Reynolds), and finds herself thrust into their personal crises.
Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course there are four weddings… and a funeral.
The series is exec-produced by Kaling, Warburton and Curtis, alongside Tracey Wigfield, Jonathan Prince, Howard Klein, Charlie Grandy, Tristram Shapeero and Charles McDougall. The pilot script was written by Kaling and Warburton, with filming taking place last November in London. The series will premiere on Hulu on 31st July in the USA. There’s no UK broadcaster yet confirmed, or a release date on British shores, but while waiting for that, here’s the trailer:
