The Lazarus Project returns for Season 2, and a new trailer gives us a first glimpse of what’s in store.
Written by Joe Barton, the sci-fi thriller follows George, who wakes up one day and finds himself reliving a day from months ago and thinks he’s lost his mind. All of his recent milestones have been undone, including his success at work and his marriage to the love of his life, Sarah. Worst of all, he seems to be the only one who has noticed what’s happened. That is, until he meets Archie, who recruits George for the Lazarus Project – a secret organisation that has harnessed the ability to turn back time every time the world is at threat of extinction.
The series stars Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Gangs of London), alongside Anjli Mohindra (Vigil, Bodyguard), Tom Burke (Strike, Mank), Caroline Quentin (Dickensian, Bridgerton), Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield, The Split) and Charly Clive (Pure). Season 1 launched in June 2022, going on to be Sky Max’s second biggest new scripted launch of the last two years, with a 28-day audience of 1.70m.
“This twisting time-travelling thriller is a fun mix of suspenseful set pieces and moral dilemmas,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Now, another eight episodes are on the way, with Paapa Essiedu returning as George, who is determined to redeem himself and win back the trust of his friends, colleagues and the love of his life. But as things get more sinister, he begins to suspect that the only person he can really trust is himself. Anjli Mohindra (Bodyguard), Charly Clive (Pure), Vinette Robinson (Boiling Point), Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield), Caroline Quentin and Tom Burke (Strike) will also return to reprise their roles. Joining them will be Royce Pierreson (The Irregulars, The Witcher), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Limitless), Safia Oakley-Green (Sherwood), Lorne MacFayden (Vigil), Zoe Telford (Genius), Sam Troughton and James Atherton (Hollyoaks).
You can see them in action in November, with an exact release date yet to be confirmed. Until then here’s the trailer:
Watch: New clip for Sky’s The Lazarus Project
24th May 2022
Joe Barton’s new thriller The Lazarus Project arrives on Sky next month, and a new clip gives us a taste of the action-packed thriller.
Barton, who wrote Giri/Haji, writes the series, which follows George, who wakes up one day and finds himself reliving a day from months ago and thinks he’s lost his mind.
Like George, those who work at Lazarus are the few people on earth with the ability to remember the events that are undone when time goes back. Alongside colleagues Archie, standoffish Shiv, and their steely leader Wes, George works to prevent global catastrophe – including trying to track down the formidable Rebrov, a wanted criminal intent on detonating a nuclear warhead and destroying the world.
The series stars Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Gangs of London), alongside Anjli Mohindra (Vigil, Bodyguard), Tom Burke (Strike, Mank), Caroline Quentin (Dickensian, Bridgerton), Rudi Dharmalingam (Wakefield, The Split) and Charly Clive (Pure). It is directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner, who helmed the Amazon Prime Video series Beat.
The series will premiere on Sky Max and NOW on 16th June, with all episodes arriving at once. In the meantime, here’s the clip:
