Watch Millie Brown shave her head for Stranger Things

Stranger Things has given us many things, from the warmth of 80s nostalgia to the freaky scares of sci-fi horror. Its best gift of all, though, has been a crop of young actors who are all fantastic.
At the heart of them? Millie Brown as Eleven, or Elle, the mysterious stranger who appears just as Will disappears and things start to go wrong down at the local sinister government science lab. As well as having a believable chemistry with the other kids, Brown also had to overcome a physical challenge for her part: shaving her head. Because we all know that you can’t have psychokinetic powers with a full head of hair. Just ask Professor Charles Xavier.
Now, Millie has taken to Twitter to share the video of her transformation:

It turns out that she had a rather cool role model to help with the adjustment: Charlize Theron as Mad Max: Fury Road’s Furiosa.
“So I’m standing in the room with them, and Ross Duffer comes over to me and is just like, ‘Bzzzzzzzz’ on my head, and I’m like, ‘What’s that mean?'” Brown told IndieWire earlier this year about how the show’s creators broke the news of her character’s appearance to her. “And Ross said, ‘Well, you’ve got to shave your head!'”
“My mum’s reaction was like, ‘Oh my God, nooooo!’” she added. “And me and my dad were like, ‘Mum, it’s okay! It’s just my head!'”
The Duffer brothers sent Millie an encouraging video on the big day of the buzz.
“I sat in the chair, and, one by one, they cut it off,” Brown explained. “I was like, ‘Oh no. What have I done? And they told me, ‘I want you to have the mind-frame of Charlize Theron in ‘Mad Max’. And we did this sort of split-screen of her and me, and the resemblance was amazing! I thought, ‘Wow, that’s such an amazing way to put it, you know?’ It was the best decision I’ve ever, ever made.”
