Apple TV+ renews Trying for Season 3
24th March 2021
Apple TV+ has renewed comedy series Trying for a third season before its second has even hit our screens.
The first British original show for Apple’s subscription streaming service, Trying follows Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall), who want a baby more anything, but it’s the one thing they just can’t have. After ruling out every other option, Nikki and Jason decide to adopt and are confronted by a world of bewildering new challenges. With their dysfunctional friends, screwball family, and chaotic lives, will the adoption panel agree that they’re ready to be parents?
Co-starring Imelda Staunton and Ophelia Lovibond, the show is written and executive produced by Andy Wolton, directed and executive produced by Jim O’Hanlon (Catastrophe), produced by Sam Pinnell (Motherland), co-produced by Tim Mannion, and executive produced by Josh Cole. It launched on Apple TV+ last May.
“Rafe Spall and Esther Smith are charming in Apple TV+’s likeable comedy,” we wrote in our review.
Season 2 will premiere on 14th May. The eight-episode run will follow Nikki and Jason as they continue to navigate the adoption process. It seems like children are being snapped up by other couples while somehow they’re being left behind. When Nikki meets a little girl called Princess at an adoption event, she knows instantly that this is the child for them. But there are obstacles to Nikki’s plan that may prove insurmountable.
Before Season 2 has arrived, though, Apple has already given an early green light to a third season.
Trying is available on Apple TV+, as part of a £4.99 monthly subscription, with a 7-day free trial.
