Trailer: Spike Lee’s Pass Over premieres on Amazon Prime Video

Spike Lee may be in the middle of She’s Gotta Have It at Netflix, but his latest joint, Pass Over, is premiering on Amazon Prime Video this week.
Pass Over is a play by Antoinette Nwandu, an African-American playwright based in New York. A provocative riff on Waiting for Godot, it stars Jon Michael Hill and Julian Parker as two young Black men talking, passing the time, and dreaming of the promised land.
Included on 2016’s Kilroys’ List – a gender parity initiative to end the systematic underrepresentation of female and trans playwrights in US theatre – it was first performed at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 2017. While there, Spike Lee filmed the play for Amazon Studios, and that recording is now being released as an Amazon original film.
It captures the poetry, humour and humanity of an urgent and timely play, directed for the stage by Danya Taymor. The film premieres worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on Friday 20th April. Here’s a trailer:
Pass Over is available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, as part of a £5.99 monthly subscription.
