Trailer: Pixar’s Luca heads to Disney+

Luca, the latest from Pixar, will be getting a Disney+ premiere this summer.
Set in a beautiful seaside town on the Italian Riviera, the animation is a coming-of-age story about one young boy experiencing an unforgettable summer filled with gelato, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface.
Directed by Enrico Casarosa (La Luna) and produced by Andrea Warren (Lava), Luca will premiere on Disney+ directly worldwide on 18th June. The film will follow in Soul’s footsteps and have no additional charge when it debuts online.
The news of the release follows the announcement that Black Widow will arrive day-and-date in cinemas and on Disney+ (with a Premier Access fee) on 9th July “in most Disney+ markets”, which likely includes the UK as well as the USA.
Cruella will take the same approach, arriving in cinemas (coronavirus pandemic permitting) and on Disney+ (with a Premier Access fee) on 28th May.
Before both of those high-profile premieres, another notable release is heading to Disney+, with awards frontrunner Nomadland to debut directly on the streaming platform, also with no additional charge, on 30th April.
