The Kissing Booth 3 to Bob Ross: Netflix unveils summer movie slate
James R | On 28, Apr 2021
Netflix made a promise at the start of this year that it would be dropping a new film every week on subscribers’ screens, as it steps up its original film investments considerably.
The streaming giant has enjoyed awards success and critical acclaim in recent years, and has also been announcing viewing stats for its most popular original films as it looks to position itself as a heavyweight against new rivals such as Disney+. Its line-up of projects for 2021 is certainly an impressive one, with casts that include such names as Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Meryl Streep, Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Gal Gadot, Dave Bautista, Naomi Watts, Jake Gyllenhaal, John David Washington and Octavia Spencer. And two actors will also make their directorial debuts: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s tick, tick… Boom! and Halle Berry’s Bruised.
This summer will see the debut of The Kissing Booth 3 on 11th August, a remake of She’s All That titled He’s All That on 27th August, Fatherhood, starring Kevin Hart, on 18th June and a biopic of Bob Ross called Happy Accidents, Betrayal and Greed.
Other titles include Baggio: the Divine Ponytail (out 26th May), Ghost Lab (26th May) and Blue Miracle (27th May), Carnaval (2nd June), Jagame Thandhiram (18th June), Good on Paper (23rd June), The Ice Road (25th June), America: The Motion Picture (30th June) and The House of Flowers: the Movie.
Here’s a teaser video previewing some of the films on the way to your screen – and read on below for more details on titles where we have them.
