Some people play the game. Others change it. That’s the inspiration behind Ava DuVernay’s new Netflix series Colin in Black & White – and a new trailer gives us a first look at it.
It follows the path of one ordinary high school kid who became extraordinary. Jaden Michael stars as a young Colin Kaepernick, who is the latest in a growing line of people who trust DuVernay (Selma, When They See Us) to tell their truths. Colin and Ava met in 2017, after the activist and former NFL quarterback had been propelled into the spotlight after advocating and protesting for social justice issues both on the field and off.
The two teamed up for the Netflix series, which tells his origin story through the lens of his formative years, showing how someone rises to greatness and what it takes to give up your dream to stand up for what you believe in. It premieres on 29th October.

Colin in Black & White is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
