No one can escape the past. That’s the warning at the heart of The Innocent, Netflix’s new thriller based on Harlan Coben’s bestselling novel.
One night, Matt innocently tried to break up a fight and ended up an homicide. Now, nine years later, he’s trying to start from scratch with Olivia, his wife. A shocking call from Olivia’s phone while she’s on a business trip unsettles Matt, and he will start a frenetic race to discover the truth. His innocence will be questioned again, this time by Lorena, a police inspector investigating a suicide case.
A co-production of Sospecha and Think Studio, Oriol Paulo, Sandra Hermida, Belén Atienza, Jesús de la Vega and Eneko Lizarraga are the executive producers. The series is created by Oriol Paulo (Los ojos de Julia) and written by Jordi Vallejo, Oriol Paulo and Guillem Clua.
It stars Mario Casas (El Practicante, Hogar, Contratiempo, El Bar, Tres metros sobre el cielo), Aura Garrido (El día de mañana, El Ministerio del Tiempo, Stockholm) and Alexandra Jiménez (Las distancias, Toc toc, KIKI, el amor se hace, Promoción fantasma). You can see them in action on 30th April, then series joins a growing collection of Coben adaptations on Netflix, including The Stranger, The Woods and (coming soon) Stay Close and Gone for Good.
