Doom Patrol Season 2 finally has a UK release date, with DC’s strangest group of heroes back to save the world this July.
The 15-episode first season of Doom Patrol premiered on STARZPLAY UK in January of this year, introducing the world to the outcast heroes who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton).
“The first season of DC’s offbeat superhero show delivers silly humour, fun characters and crazy comic book plots,” we wrote in our review.
Season 2 finds the members of Doom Patrol mini-sized and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. There, they will deal with their full-sized feelings of betrayal by Niles Caulder (Timothy Dalton), while confronting their own personal baggage. And as each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (played by newcomer Abigail Shapiro), who was glimpsed at the close of Season 1 and whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.
From Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, Doom Patrol is executive produced by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural, Frequency), Geoff Johns (Titans, Batwoman), Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl), Sarah Schechter (Riverdale, God Friended Me) and Chris Dingess (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter). The series is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution and based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.
Season 2 premieres on 16th July, with STARZPLAY now available on iOS, Android, Prime Video Channels, Apple TV, Virgin Media, Roku and also as part of Rakuten TV.
Doom Patrol set for UK release in January 2020
22nd November 2019
Doom Patrol finally has a UK TV air date, with STARZPLAY set to release the DC Universe series in January 2020.
The subscription streaming service from Starz has announced the acquisition for the eagerly awaited superhero drama. Doom Patrol reimagines one of DC’s most beloved group of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser – Crash, The Mummy, Gods and Monsters), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer – White Collar, American Horror Story), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowlby – Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero – Orange is the New Black), led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton – The Living Daylights, License to Kill). Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured.
Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief, these reluctant heroes find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg (Joivan Wade – The First Purge, Doctor Who), who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Doom Patrol also stars Alan Tudyk (Powerless, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as Mr. Nobody.
From Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, Doom Patrol is executive produced by Jeremy Carver (Supernatural), Geoff Johns (Titans, Batwoman), Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Sarah Schechter (Riverdale) and Chris Dingess (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Currently in production on its second season, the series is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
STARZPLAY is available on the Apple TV app, Prime Video Channels and Virgin Media, and also as a standalone app on Android and iOS, giving subscribers access to acclaimed series like Mr. Mercedes, Ramy and the recently released DC Comics Batman prequel Pennyworth, along with its growing selection of exclusive STARZ Originals on the same day they launch in the US, including The Spanish Princess and Vida.
All episodes of Doom Patrol will launch on STARZPLAY on 2nd January 2020.

Timothy Dalton joins Brendan Fraser in DC Universe’s Doom Patrol
7th September 2019
Timothy Dalton is joining Brendan Fraser in DC Universe’s new series Doom Patrol.
The James Bond and Hot Fuzz star will play the lead role in the live-action show, which will be exclusive to DC’s new subsription streaming platform. The role marks Dalton’s first regular series role since Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, which ended in 2016.

Fraser, meanwhile, will voice Robotman, a robot housing the mind of Cliff Steele, a former race car driver. Fraser will voice Robotman in the present day and play Steele in flashbacks, with Riley Shanahan playing the physical body of Robotman.
