Tiffany Haddish will star in Mystery Girl, a new comic book adaptation for Netflix.
The film is based on the Dark Horse comic of the same name, created by Paul Tobin and Alberto Alburquerque. Dark Horse Entertainment has a first look deal with the streamer, with the pair previously collaborating on The Umbrella Academy and Polar. Now, the deal is bringing another adaptation to our screens, with Haddish set to star and also produce the film under her She Ready Productions.
Mystery Girl follows Trine, who lives off the grid in Los Angeles as a street psychic. She has no memory of who she is or where she’s from but is guided by an omniscient voice in her head that knows everyone’s darkest secrets. When a down-on-his-luck police officer, Cooper, seeks out Trine to help him crack a case, the two find themselves framed for murder and have to work together to clear their names.
McG (The Babysitter) will direct, with the filmmaker also producing along with Mary Viola on behalf of Wonderland Sound and Vision. Melanie Clark of She Ready Productions will serve as executive producer, while Dark Horse’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will serve as producers.
Haddish, who recently wrapped filming on Apple TV+’s The Afterparty, will soon be seen in Netflix’s Bad Trip. Season 2 of her They Ready comedy showcase recently dropped on Netflix.
