The cast list for Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones keeps on growing with the announcement of three new faces this week.
Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval have joined the 13-episode series, which will premiere on Netflix later this year.
The show follows Jessica Jones, as she attempts to rebuild her life as a detective in New York after a tragic ending to a short-lived super hero stint, only to get pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities.
Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter will star as Jessica Jones, while Mike Colter has already been announced as Luke Cage and David Tennant has been confirmed as villain Kilgrave. Other cast members include Rachael Taylor as Patricia “Trish” Walker and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Joining them, Eka Darville will play Malcolm, a neighbor of Jessica’s whose own journey will intertwine with her quest “in a surprising way”.
“Eka brings such depth, humor and nuanced performance to the characters he plays, which makes him the perfect person to portray Malcolm,” says Executive Producer Melissa Rosenberg.
Erin Moriarty will play Hope, a young girl who becomes a client of Jessica’s Alias Investigations.
“In Erin I immediately recognized an incredibly talented, mature and complex actress, who brings myriad levels to every scene,” adds Rosenberg. “She has an incredible career in front of her.”
Wil Traval will play an NYPD cop, who takes “protect and serve” very seriously.
“Wil Traval is a very emotionally courageous actor, able be profoundly vulnerable, or venal, or funny or fierce,” continues Rosenberg. “I’ve been searching for an opportunity to work with both Erin and Wil again, and am excited to see them in these roles.”
Jessica Jones will follow Daredevil in the building of a mini-Marvel universe on Netflix, which will also see Luke Cage get his own series and culminate in a large cross-over event.
