The Flight Attendant Season 2 unveils cast and plot
25th September 2021
The Flight Attendant will return for a second season, and now we’ve got the first details of its cast and plot.
Season 1 of the darkly comic thriller was based on the novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian and told the story of how an entire life could change in one night. Flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) woke up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man – and no idea what happened. The season also starred Michiel Huisman, Rosie Perez, Zosia Mamet, Michelle Gomez, TR Knight, Colin Woodell, Merle Dandridge, Griffin Matthews and Nolan Gerard Funk.
“This smart, funny, suspenseful murder mystery is a surprising, thrilling ride,” we wrote in our review.
Season 1 aired on Sky in the UK and went on to win an Emmy for Blake Neely’s main title theme music and earned eight Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy, Outstanding Writing, Directing and Lead Actress.
Season 2 will feature Cassie in a new adventure. It joins her as she’s living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.
Returning alongside Cuoco will be series regulars Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz and Rosie Perez, along with recurring guest stars TR Knight, Yasha Jackson and Audrey Grace Marshall.
Alongside them will be cast of new series regulars. Mo McRae (Big Little Lies) will play Benjamin Berry, a career CIA officer who may have a bad habit of getting a little too involved with his assets. Callie Hernandez (One of These Days) will play Gabrielle Diaz, a quick-tempered and calculating bounty hunter whose impulse control issues often get in the way of her job. JJ Soria (Gentefied) will play Esteban Diaz, Gabrielle’s partner and lover who tries to keep a level head and stay focused on the job, but often gets just as heated as his girlfriend.
New recurring guest stars will include Cheryl Hines (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Suburgatory, Waitress) as Dot Karlson, Jessie Ennis (Mythic Quest, Better Call Saul, Life of the Party) as Jenny, Mae Martin (Feel Good, Comedians of the World) as Grace St. James, Margaret Cho (Good on Paper, Over the Moon, High Maintenance) as Utada, Santiago Cabrera (Star Trek: Picard, Big Little Lies) as Marco and Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse, 24, House of Sand and Fog) as Brenda.
The series is developed by showrunner Steve Yockey, who serves as executive producer alongside co-showrunner Natalie Chaidez. Season 2 has begun production and will be filming in Los Angeles, Berlin and Reykjavik.
