David Farnor | On 09, Sep 2023
Superhero school is in this month, as Amazon’s Gen V opens its doors.
Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, the spin-off series introduces us to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes – preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations… literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?
The series cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. Gen V also features guest stars Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter, as well as appearances from Jessie T Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and PJ Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys.
You can see them in action on 29th September, with three episodes arriving together, followed by weekly episodes unil the finale on 3rd November.
Gen V: First trailer for The Boys spin-off
24th July 2023
The first trailer has landed for Gen V, Amazon’s spin-off series from The Boys.
The video gives us a peek into life at Godolkin University, America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International). It explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given. These young, competitive heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s highly coveted top ranking. They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed.

Amazon greenlights The Boys spin-off
28th September 2021
Amazon has officially given the green light to a spin-off from The Boys.
The Boys is based on the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It asks what happens when superheroes abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. As popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, the super powerful are taken down by the powerless, as “The Boys” embark on a heroic quest to expose the corrupt, immoral truth about “The Seven”, a team of famous heroes, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that protects them. With the series recently wrapping production on Season 3, Amazon has been quietly at work on a potential spin-off series – and now, it’s officially given a series order to the project.
The as-yet-untitled new series from Sony Pictures Television is set at America’s only college for superheroes, run by Vought International. The programme once again will be an irreverent, R-rated series that explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities. It’s part college show, part Hunger Gams — with the heart, satire and raunch that has made Amazon’s The Boys a hit.
Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Shane Paul McGhie, Aimee Carrero, Reina Hardesty and Maddie Phillips will star, with additional cast to be announced. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters will serve as showrunners and executive producers. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson and Michaela Starr will serve as executive producers. Serving as co-executive producers for the series are Zak Schwartz and Erica Rosbe.
“Much like Mork & Mindy spun-off from Happy Days—which is an insane and true fact—our spinoff will exist in the Vought Cinematic Universe, yet have a tone and style all its own. It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes,” said The Boys’ showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke. “Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it. Also, Baywatch Nights spun-off from Baywatch, and it had vampires. Vampires!”
Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway join The Boys spin-off
16th March 2021
Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway have been cast in The Boys spin-off series.
While a third season is on the way, Amazon is already at work on a spin-off series. Created by The Boys exec-producer Craig Rosenberg, the show has been fast-tracked by the online retailer.
Set at America’s only college for young adult superheroes – run, naturally, by Vought – the show will be an irreverent, adult series that explores the lives of supes as they come of age, test their physical, sexual and moral boundaries and battle with hormones. The Boys creator Eric Kripke will also executive produce along with the current show’s EPs, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures.
Now, they’ve started to enrol actors in the college, with Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway joining the cast.
Sinclair, who has played Rosalind Walker in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will play Marie, one of the lead characters. Lizze Broadway, who has appeared in Here and Now and The Rookie, will play fellow student Emma.
The Boys spin-off in the works at Amazon
25th September 2020
A spin-off series from The Boys is in the works at Amazon.
The darkly comic series, co-produced with Sony Pictures Television, is based on the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The show returned to Amazon Prime Video this month, with Amazon releasing episodes weekly to build up momentum and attention for an event-like finale.
“The Boys are back and they’re more sharply satirical and unsubtly entertaining than ever,” we wrote in our review.
Amazon is clearly confident in the show’s appeal, with Season 2 reportedly the most-watched global launch of an Amazon original series to date. The show’s audience has grown 89 per cent since the first season, with a third season already greenlit – and an aftershow, hosted by Aisha Taylor, arriving every week along with Season 2’s latest instalment.
Now, just three weeks after the Season 2 premiere, Variety reports that Amazon is fast-tracking the development of a new spin-off. Set at America’s only college for young adult superheroes – run, naturally, by Vought – the show will reportedly be an irreverent, adult series that explores the lives of supes as they come of age, test their physical, sexual and moral boundaries and battle with hormones.
Craig Rosenberg, who is a writer and exec-producer on The Boys, is writing the pilot for the untitled spin-off and will serve as showrunner, as part of his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. The Boys creator Eric Kripke will also executive produce along with the current show’s EPs, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver of Point Grey Pictures. Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, who also exec-produce The Boys, are on board as EPs too.
