Amazon has cancelled Truth Seekers after one season.
The horror comedy, co-written by Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, follows a team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see. However, as they stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals with their array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos, their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, more terrifying and even deadly, as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that could bring about Armageddon for the entire human race.
“Nick Frost and Simon Pegg’s horror comedy is an entertainingly dark ride,” we wrote in our review.
Pegg and Frost headed up an impressive cast that includes Malcolm McDowell, Samson Kayo, Susan Wokoma, Emma D’Arcy, Julian Barratt, Kate Nash, Morgana Robinson and the actor Kevin Eldon. The eight-episode series premiered on Amazon Prime Video just in time for Halloween last year.
Now, however, Amazon has decided not to renew the show for a second outing.
“Sadly, Truth Seekers will not be returning for a second season,” confirmed Frost in a story on Instagram, which was picked up by Deadline. “Truth Seekers has not been renewed, which is a massive kick in the willy for me, We really put our all into this – our heart and soul, and blood in some cases, so to not come back is really sad for us. It’s a shame. I think we had lots of lovely ghost stories to tell – stories that will remain now untold.”
Truth Seekers is available to watch online on Amazon Prime Video as part of a Prime membership or a £5.99 monthly subscription.
