One of the main problems facing the VOD industry is fragmentation. Not just of services, but devices – with so many platforms to through on your telly, developing an app that can work across all of them is a challenge. Enter TV App Agency, which was founded in 2011 to tackle just that.
Now, the development company have developed an app for Irish public broadcaster TG4 which has been released worldwide on all major Smart TV platforms.
The app will provide the global base of Irish speaking viewers a source of original Irish video content and a wide range of content in Documentary, Drama, Kids, Sport, News and Current Affairs, Music and Entertainment all available via their Smart TVs.
The app has been developed using TV App Agency’s TV App Engine, which enables developers to develop a single app and upon submission into the TV App Engine, create native apps for over 100 supported platforms, including all the major Smart TV platforms, such as Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Philips, Foxxum, Opera TV, Toshiba and Google TV. Indeed, the TG4 Smart TV app is now available worldwide on Samsung, Philips, Opera TV, Foxxum, Toshiba and Google TV and will soon be available on Panasonic and LG Smart TVs.
“Developing the TG4 app has been a perfect example of how we can use our TV App Engine technology to bring great content to multiple platforms and maximise reach for brands and content owners,” explains Bruno Pereira, TV App Agency Director and Co-Founder.
TG4 Technical Director, Nevil Keaveney, adds: “The roll out of the Smart TV App is another reflection of TG4’s commitment to adapting to new technologies to deliver the channel’s quality content to the audience and to ensure Irish language content is available to audiences worldwide.”
TV App Agency has more than 50 customers ranging from real estate portals to broadcasters and more than 450 apps available to download across a range of platforms.
