Take Us Home: Amazon’s Leeds United series returns for Season 2

Amazon is kicking off another season of footballing action at Leeds United with the sophomore run of its docuseries Take Us Home.
Two new 45-minute episodes bring Take Us Home: Leeds United to a fitting conclusion, having followed every twist and turn of Leeds United’s fortunes since the start of the 2018/19 season. The first six episodes – released in August 2019 – followed Marcelo Bielsa’s first campaign in charge, including the notorious “Spygate” incident, the Aston Villa goal that Bielsa instructed his team to give back, transfer drama and more. The new episodes will give viewers a front row seat to Leeds United’s extraordinary 2019/20 campaign, as the club celebrates its centenary before battling back from Covid-19 to finally secure promotion to the top tier after 16 years away.
Produced by NEO Studios and directed by The City Talking’s Lee Hicken, Take Us Home is narrated by Academy Award winner and avid Leeds fan Russell Crowe.
“After last year’s popularity of Take Us Home: Leeds United, we are thrilled to be able to bring Prime Video viewers a new season definitively covering the team’s historical promotion,” said Martin Backlund, Head of Content, UK for Prime Video. “The 2019/2020 season saw not only Leeds United win a long awaited and hard earned promotion, but also documented the club through the most historic and unexpected of seasons. This series will join the prestigious collection of Sports documentaries already exclusively available on Prime Video such as All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur and Andy Murray: Resurfacing”
Crowe added: “I’ve loved Leeds all my life. I used to come home from playing sport when I was a kid to sit down and watch Match of the Day with my brother, and I was just hooked. After years of pain, seeing the white army marching on together back to the Premier League where they should be has given me nothing but pleasure. And to be able to help tell the incredible story of the past two seasons through Take Us Home has been a real honour.”
Both episodes of Season 2 are available on Amazon Prime Video from today. Here’s the trailer:
Take Us Home: Leeds United is available to watch online on Amazon Prime Video as part of a Prime membership or a £5.99 monthly subscription.
Take Us Home: Amazon to follow Leeds United in new documentary series
31st July 2019
Amazon will follow Leeds United for a new documentary series, Take Us Home.
Academy Award winner and avid Leeds United fan Russell Crowe will narrate the six-part series, which will chart the football club’s thrilling 2018-19 Championship season under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Bielsa, the 63-year-old coach who famously managed the national teams in Argentina and Chile as well as European clubs including Athletic Bilbao, Marseille, Lazio and Lille, had an immediate impact at Leeds United following his announcement in June 2018. His unique style of play meant that the team, who finished thirteenth in 2017-18, were already top of the Championship midway through the 2018-19 season. The docu-series will cover the highs and lows of the season with exclusive footage of the players and staff behind the scenes, and include moments such as the “spygate” scandal and the controversial uncontested goal in the April 2019 Aston Villa match.
“Take Us Home: Leeds United joins the great collection of live sports and behind-the-scenes docu-series on Prime Video,” says Chris Bird, EU Head of Content, Prime Video. “We saw that All or Nothing: Manchester City was a hit not only with Man City fans, but also football fans across the UK and around the world, so we’re excited to give Prime members an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into a fascinating year in Leeds United’s history.”
“We are proud to partner with Amazon Prime Video to present this exciting documentary that chronicles a remarkable season in the history of Leeds United,” adds Andrea Radrizzani, Chairman of Leeds United and the Eleven Sports Group. “Last season, with Marcelo at the helm, we made huge strides in putting Leeds United back on the map and reconnecting the club with our local community and wider fanbase. We are delighted to be able to share a unique, behind the scenes perspective on the ups and downs, the emotion and the intimate moments that makes this club so special.”
Take Us Home: Leeds United is produced for Prime Video by Eleven Studios in partnership with The City Talking. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video this autumn. Here’s the trailer:
