Sterling K Brown and Randall Park are teaming up for a new action-comedy at Amazon Studios.
Brown and Park have become household names in recent years, thanks to Brown’s Emmy-winning performance in NBC’s This Is Us and Park’s scene-stealing role as Jimmy Woo in Marvel’s WandaVision and headlining role in Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe.
The pair also have their own production companies, with Brown’s Indian Meadows holding a deal with 20th Television and aiming to champion diversity in its projects and Park’s Imminent Collision looking to make comedy-leaning stories about Asian Americans for all audiences. This collaboration is a natural step for both, then, with Brown and Park not only producing the film but also starring in it.
The film is written by Alex Tse, co-creator Hulu’s Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and described to THR as similar to 1982’s buddy cop flick 48 Hrs. The untitled project follows two former childhood best friends who find themselves on opposite sides of the law. Framed, the two must go on the run together to clear their names and stop a criminal enterprise.
Other produces include Hieu Ho and Michael Golamco of Imminent Collision. Danielle Reardon is also on board as executive producer.
