Star Trek: Discovery: Season 4 to stream on Pluto TV in UK

Update: Release date confirmed – Season 4, Part 2 will air from 11th February 2022 in the UK.
Star Trek: Discovery: Season 4 will be available to watch online in the UK after all – and for free – with Paramount announcing that the show will be streaming on Pluto TV.
The announcement is the second surprise move by the company in the past week, after Star Trek: Discovery was unexpectedly pulled from Netflix UK, just days before it was set to debut its fourth season alongside its US broadcast. The reason? The impending UK launch of Paramount’s streaming service, Paramount+ (rebranded from CBS All-Access), which is the programme’s original home in the USA.
What followed was a wave of complaints from fans and even from those involved in the show, with audiences not pleased about the prospect of having to avoid spoilers before eventually catching Season 4 of the Star Trek series when Paramount+ launches in the UK in 2022.
Now, Paramount has inked a deal with Pluto TV to bring the show to our shores without a further wait.
“To all of the International Star Trek: Discovery fans: we hear you. We love this series too. We love it for the incredible cast, the hardworking crew, the imaginative storytelling, the groundbreaking, diverse characters who bring the show to life and what it represents to so many people around the world. Star Trek has always put its fans first. We want to do the same,” said the company in a statement.
When Season 4 is streaming on Pluto TV
Where Paramount+ is available in countries such as Australia and Argentina, Season 4 will be beaming up from Friday 26th November. In the UK, and other countries across Europe where Paramount+ has not yet launched, Pluto TV will be streaming episodes at 9pm each Friday, Saturday and Sunday – giving fans a chance to watch the programme for free online without having to wait for 2022.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 will begin streaming on Pluto TV from Friday 26th November, with the first two episodes playing in a double-bill at 9pm on Friday – then repeated at the same time on Saturday and Sunday night. This will be followed by one new episode a week (in line with the US release) on each Friday at 9pm – then the same episode repeated at the same time on Saturday and Sunday.
There are some slight catches, of course: the first is that the show will not be available on Pluto TV outside of those linear streaming times. The second is that Pluto TV is an ad-supported service, so your Star Trek: Discovery streaming will be accompanied by adverts. The third is that the first three seasons of Discovery won’t be available to stream on a subscription platform until Paramount+ launches.
How to get Pluto
Pluto TV is easy to get, though, with web browsers supported (go to Pluto.tv) along with iOS, Android, Fire TV, Apple TV, NOW TV devices, Roku, Chromecast, PlayStation, and select LG and Samsung smart TVs. Discovery Season 4 joins more than 60 live-streaming channels, including Pluto TV Movies, Pluto TV Kids and branded partner channels such as My5 Crime and Glory Kickboxing.
