Soldiers or zombies? That’s the question at the heart of SOZ, Amazon’s new undead thriller.
Standing for Soldados o Zombies, the series sees a new breed of zombie face off against one of the most wanted drug lords in Mexico. To avoid extradition, the charismatic and unpredictable drug lord Alonso Marroquín escapes prison in Mexico to hide in the middle of the desert. While on the other side of the border, a United States Army experiment with pigs in a military base, goes wrong and the Mexican police unit going after Marroquín gets infected, transforming into a new breed of zombies with special abilities. The army and this new species converge in Marroquín’s hideout, where the battle for survival begins. In short, it’s narcos vs zombies.
Directed by Rigoberto Castañeda (Km 31), S.O.Z Soldiers or Zombies is produced by Dynamo (Falco, Narcos) and Red Creek (Rompan Todo), created and directed by Nico Entel (Break It All, Sins of my Father), and Miguel Tejada-Flores (Revenge of the Nerds, Fright Night Part 2) and produced by Nico Entel, Miguel Tejada-Flores, Andrés Calderón, Juan Uruchurtu, and María José Gómez.
