Watch: New trailer for Netflix’s The Electric State

“We all lost something after the rebellion.” That’s the sound of Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt teaming up for The Electric State and a new trailer gives us a first look at the Netflix blockbuster.
Directed by the Russo brothers the film is based on the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag. Set in the aftermath of a robot uprising in an alternate version of the 90s, it follows an orphaned teenager who ventures across the American West with a cartoon-inspired robot, a smuggler, and his sidekick in search of her younger brother. Brown and Pratt are joined by Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci, as well as Woody Harrelson, Anthony Mackie, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Hank Azaria, Colman Domingo and Alan Tudyk in voice roles.
The film premieres on 14th March 2025. Here’s the trailer:
Giancarlo Esposito, Ke Huy Quan join Netflix’s The Electric State

Giancarlo Esposito and Ke Huy Quan are the latest star names to become citizens of Netflix’s Electric State.
The film, an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, follows an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother. It is adapted for the screen by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and is directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo.
Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown, Stanley Tucci, Michelle Yeoh, Chris Pratt and Jason Alexander are already signed on to star. Now, they’ve got some company, with Esposito fresh from Better Call Saul and The Mandalorian joining the cast and Quan reuniting with his Everything Everywhere All at Once co-star Yeoh.
Billy Bob Thornton (The Gray Man, Goliath) and Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Outside the Wire) have also signed on to provide voice roles. They join Brian Cox (Succession) and Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), who are also lending their vocal talents to the project.

Stanley Tucci, Michelle Yeoh and Jason Alexander have all joined the cast of Netflix’s The Electric State.
The film, an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag, follows an orphaned teenager who traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother. It is adapted for the screen by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and is directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo.
Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown has already signed on to star in the film. Now, it’s got added star power with the addition of Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games, The Lovely Bones), Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Crazy Rich Asians) and Alexander (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Seinfeld) to the ensemble cast. Brian Cox (Succession) and Jenny Slate (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) have also signed on to provide voice roles.
The Electric State continues the Russo Brothers and AGBO’s partnership with Netflix following The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, and Chris Hemsworth action thriller Extraction, which already has a sequel in the works.
Production on The Electric State will begin this fall.
Russos to direct Millie Bobby Brown in Netflix’s The Electric State

Netflix has picked up AGBO’s The Electric State, an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag.
The film, which is adapted for the screen by Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, will be directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo. The duo are hot property after their stint directing the Avengers franchise, with their company AGBO also partnering Netflix on the hit actioner Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth, a sequel to that film which has just wrapped principal photography, and upcoming thriller The Gray Man, starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.
In front of the camera is an equally big name, and another familiar face for Netflix: Millie Bobby Brown, star of Stranger Things and Enola Holmes.
Set in a retro-futuristic past, The Electric State follows an orphaned teenager (Millie Bobby Brown) traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.
Producers include Joe Russo, Anthony Russo and Mike Larocca for AGBO, Chris Castaldi, and Patrick Newall, with exec producers including Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
Production on The Electric State will begin this autumn.
