RTS Awards 2022: It’s a Sin, We Are Lady Parts lead nominees

The Royal Television Society Awards have announced their nominees for 2022 and Channel 4’s It’s a Sin and We Are Lady Parts are leading the pack.
The BBC leads the way with 30 nominations across the 24 categories, followed by Channel 4 with 28, Sky with 10 and ITV with eight. Nonetheless, it’s Channel 4’s hit drama It’s a Sin that has scored a whopping six nominations across a number of categories – including Keeley Hawes for Actor (Female), Olly Alexander for Actor (Male) and Callum Scott Howells for both Actor (Male) and the Breakthrough Award. Tahar Rahim, star of BBC One’s The Serpent is nominated alongside them in the Actor (Male) category.
It’s a Sin series writer Russell T Davies is recognised in the Writer – Drama category and the series itself is nominated in the Limited Series category alongside ITV’s Stephen and BBC One’s Time.
Winner of the 2021 Breakthrough Award, Mae Martin has this year been nominated in the Comedy Writer category alongside co-writer Joe Hampson. This year’s Breakthrough contenders, meanwhile, include Adjani Salmon for his BBC Three pilot Dreaming Whilst Black, and Anjana Vasan for We Are Lady Parts.
Entertainment veterans The Graham Norton Show, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan and The Last Leg are nominated in the Comedy Entertainment category, while Coronation Street, Casualty and Hollyoaks will compete in the Soap and Continuing Drama category, and 2021 Presenter winner Joe Lycett is this year again nominated in the same category for his Joe Lycett vs the Oil Giant Channel 4 series.
The prestigious RTS Channel of the Year award will be fought for between BBC One, ITV and Sky Arts.
The awards will be announced at in-person ceremony for the first time since 2019. It will take place on Tuesday 29th March at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House London and will be hosted by Nish Kumar.
