Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan and Connie Britton are among the star names joining Robert De Niro in Netflix’s Zero Day.
The conspiracy thriller asks the question on everyone’s mind — how do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?
The six-episode series hails from creator/exec-producer Eric Newman (The Watcher, Narcos), under his Grand Electric Productions deal with Netflix, and creator/exec-producer Noah Oppenheim (Jackie, The Thing About Pam, The Maze Runner). Robert De Niro will also exec-produce as well as starring as beloved former President Mullen, who comes out of retirement to lead a commission tasked with investigating a potential world crisis.
Now, he’s got some company, including Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman Is in Trouble and Fatal Attraction) as daughter Alexandra Mullen, Jesse Plemons (The Power of The Dog, Fargo) as Mullen’s former body man, Roger Carlson, Joan Allen (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Contender) as former First Lady Sheila Mullen, and Connie Britton (The White Lotus, Friday Night Lights) as political operative Valerie Whitesell, who served as Mullen’s former Chief of Staff.

Robert De Niro is heading to Netflix to make his TV debut in new series Zero Day.
Robert De Niro will also exec-produce as well as starring. Other exec-producers include Jonathan Glickman (Wednesday, Respect) and creator Michael S Schmidt. Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Mad Men and Love & Death) will direct all episodes.
Newman says: “I am a lifelong fan of Robert De Niro. To have him as a producing partner and star in this show is beyond my wildest dreams. And Lesli Linka Glatter has directed so many of my favorite episodes of television; she was our clear first choice to direct this show. I am grateful to Netflix for their continued faith and support and thrilled to be in business with the amazing creative team of Noah, Lesli, and Jonathan on this timely (and terrifying) series.”
