Update: Rick and Morty Season 5 will arrive on Netflix UK on Sunday 6th March 2022
Rick and Morty will return to E4 this June, Channel 4 has confirmed.
The irreverent, dark, twisted, dark, hilarious, dark, disturbing, dark animated comedy, which was created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, follows the misadventures of an alcoholic scientist and his grandson – think Back to the Future, but with more time-travelling, universe-hopping portals, aliens and rude jokes.
Rick Sanchez lives with his daughter Beth’s family and constantly brings her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty into intergalactic escapades. The Emmy-award-winning animated comedy stars Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites), Sarah Chalke (Firefly Lane), Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live), and Spencer Grammer (Greek), and is created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Roiland, who also serve as executive producers.
The series has become one of Adult Swim’s most popular shows in the US, and has since found an equally large following internationally, with Seasons 3 arriving on Netflix UK hot on heels of its American broadcast.
Last year, Channel 4 has snapped up the exclusive UK premiere rights, just as another 70 episodes of Rick and Morty were ordered by Adult Swim. After Season 4 premiered on E4 last year, Channel 4 has again confirmed that Season 5 will debut on E4.
The fifth season comprises 10 half-hour episodes and will see the outrageous dynamic duo once again get into all sorts of chaotic trouble. It will air hot on the heels of its US broadcast, with Episode 1 premiering at 10pm on Monday 21st June.
