Raindance Independent Series Awards winners announced

Turn Me Online took home the Best British Series prize at the Raindance Independent Series Awards last night.
The show, directed by Hannah Megan Lane and starring co-writer Suzie Preece, follows 20-something Alice, who searches for love on the web while dealing with her mundane job. It was also nominated for Best Lead Actor.
The prizes, though, were evenly distributed among the winners by host Phillip Whiteman, with the victors all pleasantly surprised at the acclaim.
The evening at Vue Piccadilly Circus began in bloody style with the screening of the Dailymotion Web Series Pilot Contest winner, The Book Club, a hilarious horror mockumentary about the village of Chestersberg, which has seceded from the UK and made murder legal. Creator Jamie McKeller collected the gong, which is voted for by the public and will also given the show £2,500 to make a full series, apologising for the gore on display – and promising even more to come.
Rochelle Dancel, of Digital Creators UK, collected awards on behalf of those unable to attend, including Wildcats (the Raindance Discovery Award supported by Maker Studios), Artistically Challenged (the Special Festival Prize supported by BuzzMyVideos), and The Impossibilities, which fought off fierce competition from Wildcats, The Katering Show, Life’s Work and The Banks to take home the Best International Series prize supported by MCM Comic Con.
Our very own Ivan Radford was on hand to wrap up the night with the Best British Series gong, as Tell Me Online beat fellow nominees 1000 Londoners, Til Death, Blowing the Budget, History Bombs and Nikola Tesla and the End of the World. VODzilla.co was also on the jury for the Critics’ Choice Award, which was decided by a panel of reviewers from WebVee Guide, WebSeries Mag, Snobby Robot and Limited Release Podcast. The prize went to RAPT.
