Watch: New trailer for Netflix’s School for Good and Evil

“Every so often a very lucky candidate from the outside is selected for admission to this hallowed institution…” That’s the sound of Netflix opening the doors to The School for Good and Evil this October – and a new trailer gives us a closer look at the star-studded fairytale saga.
Based on the bestselling books by Soman Chainani, Paul Feig’s film follows best friends Sophie and Agatha, who discover where fairytale legacies go to school: the School for Good and Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains.
Written by David Magee (Life of Pi, Mary Poppins Returns, Finding Neverland) and Laura Solon (Office Christmas Party, Let It Snow), it stars Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso in the lead roles, along with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington – not to mention Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Yeoh, Peter Serafinowicz, Rob Delaney, Mark Heap, Patti LuPone and Rachel Bloom.

Fairytale class is now in session, with the first trailer releases for Netflix’s School for Good and Evil.
Paul Feig’s upcoming film of the best-selling book series, follows best friends Sophie and Agatha, who discover where fairytale legacies go to school: the School for Good and Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. With her princess ambitions, Sophie knows she’ll be picked for the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her grim aesthetic and wicked cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil. Yet soon the girls find their fortunes reversed…
Adapted for the screen by David Magee (Life of Pi, Mary Poppins Returns, Finding Neverland) and Laura Solon (Office Christmas Party, Let It Snow), it stars Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso, along with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington.

Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron have enrolled in The School for Good and Evil.

Their friendship will be put to the test in this thrilling and comedic story where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one.
Paul Feig is at the helm with Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso already attached in the lead role. Now, Netflix’s potential franchise starter has got some added star power, with Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Washington (Scandal) joining the cast. Theron will play Lady Lesso and Washington will play Professor Dovey. Paul Feig made the announcement on Twitter last night.

Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso will star in Netflix’s adaptation of The School for Good and Evil.
Paul Feig will direct the film, based on Soman Chainani’s first novel – an instant New York Times bestseller. The book is the first of a series of six, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies and been translated into 30 languages across six continents.

The project was announced this spring, with Feig attached at the helm. Now, he’s found his two leading stars: Sofia Wylie and Sophia Anne Caruso. Caruso will familiar to those who watched The Sound of Music Live!, while Wylie is no stranger to streaming, having starred in Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical – The Series.

Paul Feig is opening up The School for Good and Evil for Netflix.
The A Simple Favour, Spy and Ghostbusters director will helm the film, which is based on Soman Chainani’s first novel – an instant New York Times bestseller. The book is the first of six in The School for Good and Evil series, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies and been translated into 30 languages across six continents.
With the final book in the series, The School of Good and Evil: One True King, about to be released this June, Netflix has announced that the movie based on the first novel is on the way. It will be adapted for the screen by David Magee (Life of Pi, Mary Poppins Returns, Finding Neverland) and Laura Solon (Office Christmas Party, Let It Snow).

Chainani will exec-produce the film, alongside Zack Roth and Patricia Riggen, while Feig and Laura Fischer will produce for Feigco, alongside Joe Roth, Jeffrey Kirschenbaum and Jane Startz.
