NextUp is teaming up with the Leicester Comedy Festival once again to bring the festival to living rooms across the UK.
Now in its 29th year, the event runs from 2nd to 20th February, with more than 560 shows packing out venues across Leicester. The festival will welcome familiar TV faces, performing solo shows and star names including Angela Barnes, Ahir Shah, Catherine Bohart, Ed Gamble, Henning Wehn, Katherine Ryan, Maisie Adam, Mark Watson, Nabil Abdulrashid, Nick Helm, Pam Ayres, Rachel Parris, Ria Lina, Richard Herring, Rosie Jones, Ross Noble, Seann Walsh, Simon Brodkin, Stewart Lee, Suzi Ruffell, Tim Key, Tony Slattery and more.
Last year, the subscription streaming platform NextUp became the digital home for the festival, as it went online during the Covid-19 pandemic – more than 20,000 tickets were sold. For 2022, NextUp are streaming the festival live direct from venues with in-person audiences, with approximately 40 shows available to watch online.
NextUp founder Sarah Henley says: “We are delighted to be working with the incredible Leicester Comedy Festival this year – streaming all the comedy chaos direct from venues with in-person audiences. On a personal level, I love that despite being at home with my kids most evenings, I can still watch the festival live. Plus, there’s no queues for the toilet. “Whether it’s childcare, venue location or ticket availability – NextUp’s mission is to amplify live comedy and break down accessibility barriers meaning brilliant comics can reach even greater audiences.”
Access to NextUp, which includes Leicester Comedy Festival, currently costs £27 per year with a 1 day free trial, or £7 per month.
