Penny Dreadful Season 3: Watch the full trailer
James R | On 11, Apr 2016
The full trailer has now been released for Penny Dreadful’s third season and, in case you didn’t think darkness was soon going to be upon us, the video quickly puts any doubts to rest. “Darkness will soon be upon us,” a sinister voice says. “I have seen it.”
You can find out more about the story and cast below, but for now, all that needs to be said is put Tuesday 3rd May in your diaries – because Season 3 of Penny Dreadful will air in the UK on Sky Atlantic just two days after its broadcast in the US. And, if you’re not a Sky customer, you’ll be able to catch it on NOW, which, let’s face it, you’ve probably already signed up to for Game of Thrones anyway.
Here’s the full video (with a tip of the hat to Den of Geek):
New trailer for Penny Dreadful Season 3
13th January 2016
“You think you know evil…” murmurs Eva Green ominously in the new Penny Dreadful Season 3 trailer – and if anyone does know evil, it’s definitely her.
After two seasons of possession, witchcraft, penitence and other assorted horrors, Green returns once more as Vanessa Ives, friend to the grizzly Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), fellow monster fighter alongside Dr Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and effective daughter to Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton) – and acquaintance of Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), Frankenstein’s monster, John Clare (Rory Kinnear), and the world’s most eccentric egyptologist (Simon Russell Beale).
If you’ve never seen Penny Dreadful, that list may well surprise, as John Logan’s series mashes together characters from literature’s horror classics, but fans will know all too well what’s in store for the third season: another run of scary beasts, Timothy Dalton action and deep soul-searching. It’s a potent mix, with Green earning a much deserved Golden Globe nomination this year for Best Actress.
After Season 2 was stolen by Helen McCrory’s blood-bath-loving Madame Kali (read our reviews of the second run here), the third season sees Green joined by Dexter’s Christian Camargo and The Outcast’s Jessica Barden. Patti LuPone will also return as a series regular to play Dr. Seward, with Samuel Barnett cast as her young secretary. Most intriguing of all, though, is the introduction of Dr. Henry Jekyll, played by Shazad Latif.
Season 3 of Penny Dreadful will premiere in the US on Sunday 1st May on Showtime. There is no confirmed UK air date, but the show will be broadcast on Sky Atlantic. For non-Sky customers, the show is available on NOW, which gives you access to Sky TV channels both live and on-demand for £6.99 a month – no contract.
