BBC Three was the big winner at this year’s Broadcast Digital Awards, with its programming taking home multiple prizes – not to mention the coveted Channel of the Year prize.
The awards, which are now in their 15th year, celebrate the best digital content, creators and channels from the UK. From programmes and websites to apps and games, the awards recognise the best innovative, interactive and creative work of the year.
This year’s winners were announced at a virtual show last year, with
Man Like Mobeen leading the way in the Best Comedy Programme. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, a BBC Three exclusive, won Best Digital Support for a Programme, while BBC Three gameshow The Rap Game UK, based on Lifetime’s US series, was named Best Entertainment Programme.
CBBC enjoyed success with The Worst Witch named Best Digital Children’s Content, while CBeebies Grown-Ups was recognised in the Best Digital Support for a Strand, Channel or Genre category. BBC Scotland also triumphed, with Guilt bagging Best Drama Programme.
BBC Four was named Best Factual Channel, while BBC Studios won Best Short-Form Documentary for its Life After Death: How Seven Kids Came Back from the Dead series, which streamed on Instagram and YouTube. BBC Three won Channel of the Year, while Firecracker was named Multichannel Production of the Year. Firecracker also won the Best Popular Factual Programme prize for Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, which it produced for UKTV’s W.
