Trailer: Netflix’s Voltron returns for Season 4 this October

Voltron: Legendary Defender returns this October for Season 4 – yes, count ’em, four.
The rebooted series only premiered a short while ago, but it’s gone from unexpected revival to one of Netflix’s best animations, hailed by us as “the best thing to happen to cartoons since The Legend of Korra”.
Season 4 is a bit of cheat, though, as it arrives hot on the heels of the show’s shortened third run this summer – effectively dividing that outing into two parts, Season 4 consists of six episodes, following Season 3’s seven parts.
Picking up from Season 3, there’s only one way to stop the Galra: together. Will the galaxy join the Voltron Coalition in time?
Season 4 premieres on Friday 13th October. Read on for the trailer, or head this way to catch up with our review of Season 3. (For more on what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in October, click here.)
Comic-Con: Voltron Season 3 gets August release date
21st July 2017
Voltron is coming back this August for Season 3, Netflix has announced.
The streaming giant’s reboot of the iconic series premiered last year, bringing us the tale of five unsuspecting teenagers – Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro – who are transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war. There, they become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil, uniting to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron.
It’s gone from unexpected revival to one of Netflix’s best animations, hailed by us as “the best thing to happen to cartoons since The Legend of Korra”. Now, hot on the heels of Season 2’s finale, Netflix is at Comic-Con with its own Voltron panel, putting its full weight behind the show.
Season 3 of Voltron will span seven episodes, Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos told Comic-Con attendees, almost acting as a warm-up first half for the six more episodes that will premiere in October. The new season picks up directly from the end of Season 2, and the success of Zarkon’s defeat comes at a price: Shiro has vanished. With the ascension of the mysterious Prince Lotor and without a pilot for the black lion, the team must somehow find the strength to keep fighting. But how can they defend the universe without Voltron?
Dos Santos also revealed that AJ Locasio (Back to the Future: The Game, Marty McFly) has joined the Voltron cast as Lotor.
You’ll be able to see him in full action on Friday 4th August, when Voltron Legendary Defender: Season 3 arrives. Until then, here’s the new Comic-Con teaser trailer:
