Watch: Full trailer for Jessica Jones Season 3
David Farnor | On 28, May 2019
With only a week to go until Jessica Jones bids farewell, Netflix has released the full trailer for her third season.
The Marvel series, which stars Krysten Ritter as the eponymous New York detective, follows the super-powered Jones as she tries to put her life back together, after an abusive relationship with tormenting mind-controller Kilgrave. Known throughout the city, she spends her nights drinking and her days reluctantly confronting who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.
The show was renewed for a third season only a matter of weeks after Season 2’s debut, but since then, Netflix has cancelled all of its Marvel projects – including Jessica Jones. With The Punisher, Daredevil and Iron Fist already airing their final solo outings, Jones is the last of Hell’s Kitchens heroes still standing.
Season 3 promises a strong final chapter for one of Marvel’s best characters, with Ritter joined once again by Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, plus Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, with the focus particularly on the relationship between Jessica and the latter. Ritter will also step behind the camera to direct some of this season.
When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism, and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.
Season 3 will premiere on Friday 14th June. Here‘s the trailer:

“In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” Netflix announced earlier this year. “We are grateful to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, star Krysten Ritter and the entire cast and crew, for three incredible seasons of this groundbreaking series, which was recognized by the Peabody Awards among many others.”
Season 3, though, promises a strong farewell for one of Marvel’s best on-screen characters, with Ritter joined once again by Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, plus Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, with the focus particularly on the relationship between Jessica and the latter. Netflix cancels The Punisher and Jessica Jones
18th February 2019
Netflix has officially cancelled The Punisher and Jessica Jones.
Melissa Rosenberg to depart Jessica Jones after Season 3
23rd August 2018
Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg will depart the Netflix series after Season 3.
The award-winning writer has made the show one of the streaming giant’s best originals over its initial two seasons, taking the comic book character and using her to explore themes of abuse, trauma, recovery, parental bonds and more. Her work on Jessica Jones built on an already impressive CV, which includes everything from Dexter and Ally McBeal to The OC, the first Step Up movie and all five entries in the Twilight franchise.
In 2011, she founded her own production company, Tall Girls Productions, focusing on projects with complex roles for women. Indeed, Jessica Jones assembled an all-female line-up of directors for its sophomore run.
Now, though, Melissa Rosenberg is heading to pastures new, as she leaves the show to begin a new overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. THR broke the news, with sources reportedly saying that Netflix courted Rosenberg to stay, but it was outbid by Warner. It marks something of a success for traditional TV studios, after talent such as Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy have inked deals with Netflix and Robert Kirkman and Amy Sherman Palladino have signed agreements with Amazon Studios.
The multi-year deal will see Rosenberg create and develop new series for Warner, although she is currently focused on finishing Season 3 of Jessica Jones. After that point, a new showrunner will take her place, if a fourth season should be given the green light, with Rosenberg still credited as creator and exec producer.
“All of my attention remains with the extraordinary cast, writers and production team of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, until the completion of season three,” Rosenberg told THR. “It continues to be a career highlight working with my partners at Marvel Television and Netflix. We’re extraordinarily grateful to the viewers who have supported us every step of the way on Jessica’s journey, which is so beautifully realized by Krysten Ritter and the amazing cast including Rachael Taylor, Eka Darville and Carrie-Anne Moss. We have so many talented storytellers in every area of this show, who I’m honored to call friends and collaborators. As I look ahead after this season, I’m thrilled that I will be able to explore new projects with the talented team at Warner Bros. Television and push myself in new challenging creative directions.”

Krysten Ritter to direct an episode of Jessica Jones Season 3
28th June 2018
Krysten Ritter will direct an episode of Jessica Jones Season 3, the actress has revealed.
The Marvel series, which stars Ritter as the eponymous New York detective, follows the super-powered Jones as she tries to put her life back together, after an abusive relationship with tormenting mind-controller Kilgrave. Known throughout the city, she spends her nights drinking and her days reluctantly confronting who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.
The show ordered a third season only a matter of weeks after Season 2’s debut, with Melissa Rosenberg staying on board as showrunner, exec-producing along with Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. Now, Ritter has confirmed that not only will she reprise her lead role, alongside an ensemble that includes Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, but she will also step behind the camera.
“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Ritter in a statement. “The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”
Details about the episode she will helm are under wraps, with no production or release date yet announced. Still to catch up with Season 2? Read our binge-reviews of the season here.
