Sex Education will officially finish with Season 4, Netflix has confirmed, and a new teaser gives us a glimpse of the end.
Asa Butterfield leads the cast of the hit coming-of-age comedy as Otis Milburn, alongside Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Mimi Keene, George Robinson, Chinenye Ezeudu, Dua Saleh, Alistair Petrie, Samantha Spiro, Jim Howick, Rakhee Thakrar and Daniel Ings.
Joining them for the final season will be Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy, Thaddea Graham (Doctor Who), Lisa McGrillis (Somewhere Boy), Marie Reuther (Kamikaze), actress and model Jodie Turner Smith, comedian Eshaan Akbar and newcomers Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, Reda Elazouar, Bella Maclean and Imani Yahshua.
Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Season 4 picks up as Otis and Eric face a new frontier – their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, whilst Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students – they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being… kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A-Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the US, Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, whilst adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus…
In a letter to fans, creator, lead writer and executive producer, Laurie Nunn said: “We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode. They have worked tirelessly to bring you the final series, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
Here’s the teaser:
Dan Levy joins Sex Education Season 4
20th August 2022
Dan Levy has joined the cast of Sex Education for Season 4.
The coming-of-age comedy, which stars Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield, follows Otis Milburn, a socially awkward high school student who lives with his sex therapist mother, Jean. In Season 1, Otis and his friend Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) set up a sex clinic at school to capitalise on his intuitive talent for sex advice. Season 2, which gave Gillian Anderson a more prominent role, and a romantic dilemma for Ncuti Gatwa’s scene-stealing Eric, cemented the show as one of Netflix’s breakout hits, finding success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Season 3 saw new headmistress Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) attempt tp bring Moordale school back from the brink of scandal. At the same time, Eric and Adam became official, Jean had a baby on the way, Aimee discovered feminism, Jackson got a crush and a lost voicemail still loomed. And bringing added drama to the table were new cast members Jason Isaacs as Peter Groff, Mr Groff’s more successful and not very modest older brother, recording artist and songwriter Dua Saleh as Cal, a non-binary student, and Indra Ové as Elsie’s foster mum, Anna.
Now, Season 4 has got some added star power in the form of Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy. He has joined the cast as teacher Mr Molloy. His casting announcement comes as production officially gets underway on the fourth season, with new images giving us a look at him in character and Asa Butterfield back in action as Otis.
