“Dracula’s dead, by my hand…” That’s the sound of Castlevania returning to Netflix for a third season.
The animation, inspired by the classic videogame series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hands of the forces of night. Written by Warren Ellis, who exec-produces alongside Adi Shankar, Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde, and starring Richard Armitage, the show was a hit for Netflix when it premiered back in 2018, with a second season ordered before Season 1 has even dropped. A third season was also swiftly ordered hot off the debut of Season 2, and now, the wait is almost over: it will be released on 5th March.
Here’s the trailer, which promises wilder, more intense monster fighting than ever:
Castlevania: Season 1 to 3 is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
Castlevania Season 3 set for March release
7th February 2020
Castlevania Season 3 will premiere this March, Netflix has confirmed.
The animation, inspired by the classic videogame series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Written by Warren Ellis, who exec-produces alongside Adi Shankar, Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde, and starring Richard Armitage, the show was a hit for Netflix when it premiered back in 2018, with a second season ordered before Season 1 has even dropped.
“Ultimately, Castlevania is a good romp that has been intelligently and lovingly produced by a cast and crew that seem to understand exactly what has made fans so passionate about the series in the first place,” we wrote in our review of Season 1. “Ellis’ writing captures the dark yet enticing world of Castlevania perfectly.”
Season 2 saw Trevor Belmont (Armitage) no longer alone, as he and his misfit comrades raced to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.
A third season was also swiftly ordered hot off the debut of Season 2, and now, the wait is almost: it will be released on 5th March.
Director Sam Deats broke the news along with his official poster for the third run, which promises “more mystery, murder, mayhem, and vampires than ever”.
Netflix renews Castlevania for Season 3
1st November 2018
Netflix has reportedly already renewed Castlevania for a third season.
The animation, inspired by the classic videogame series, is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes himself. Written by Warren Ellis, who exec-produces alongside Adi Shankar, Fred Seibert and Kevin Kolde, and starring Richard Armitage, the show was a hit for Netflix when it premiered at the start of this year.
In Season 2, Trevor Belmont (Armitage) was no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades had to race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council.
Now, within days of that sophomore run’s premiere, Deadline reports that a third is already in the works – the second time Netflix has rapidly greenlit more episodes, after Season 2 was confirmed on the day Season 1 premiered.
