Netflix orders two more Harlan Coben series
Netflix shows no sign of stopping its Harlan Coben spree, with another two adaptations in the works following the success of Fool Me Once.
Fool Me Once, which debuted on New Year’s Day, follows an ex-soldier (Michelle Keegan) struggling to come to terms with the death of her husband. The show racked up 61 million views in its first fortnight on the streamer, topping Netflix’s 10 most-watched English-language TV shows.
Back in 2018, Coben inked an overall deal with Netflix to develop 14 of his novels into Netflix series or films. In the past few years, that deal has produced a range of international projects, including (from the UK) The Stranger, Stay Close and Fool Me Once, (from POland) Hold Tight and The Woods, (from Spain) The Innocent and (from France) Gone for Good.
Now, Netflix is lining up the ninth and tenth series based on the bestselling author’s work.
First up is Missing You, adapted by Victoria Asara-Archer (who penned two episodes of Stay Close). It will follow detective Kat Donovan who sees her estranged fiancé on a dating app, forcing her to delve back into the mystery surrounding her father’s murder.
It will be directed by Sean Spencer, with Isher Sahota serving as second director.
Production will begin on the project in the spring.
It will be followed by Run Away, adapted by Fool Me Once writer Danny Brocklehurst. It will follow Simon, whose perfect life is shattered when his oldest daughter, Paige, runs away and is found vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park. Simon searches for her, taking him into a dangerous underworld.
Both series will be produced by Quay Street Productions and Coben will serve as executive producer through his company Final Twist Productions.
