Netflix orders three new preschool series

Netflix is expanding its kids’ TV line-up wth three new preschool series.
The streaming giant is increasingly focusing its efforts on family-friendly content, as it prepares for a split with Disney in the US and the launch of the House of Mouse’s own subscription service. Joining a growing number of family shows, its also stepping up its content for very young viewers, with a range of animated commission that include both picture book adaptations and a toy tie-in.
Here’s the slate:
Charlie’s Colorforms City
Charlie’s Colorforms City is the stickiest new storytelling adventure series for preschoolers, where the loveable and hilarious Charlie leads viewers on unpredictable and imaginative shape-filled story expeditions alongside a colourful cast of characters. The series is exec-produced by Angela Santomero and Samantha Freeman, Out of the Blue Enterprises (recently acquired by 9 Story Media Group) and DHX Media.
Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt
Based on the picture book series by Chris Monroe and published by Lerner, Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt is an ultra-silly construction comedy that teaches preschoolers about the mechanical world and how things work. Produced by: Kurt Mueller and Silvergate Media, the creative team behind Chico the TV series includes Bob Boyle (Wow Wow Wubzy), Gabe Pulliam (Octonauts), Stephanie Simpson (Octonauts), and Michael Goldberg (Sesame Street).
Go! Go! Cory Carson
Based on the hit toy line Go! Go! Smart Wheels from VTech Electronics, Go! Go! Cory Carson is a brand new preschool show that follows the adventures of kid car Cory Carson as he navigates the winding roads of childhood in Bumperton Hills. It is exec-produced by Kuku Studios’ Alex Woo (Ratatouille), Stanley Moore (Finding Dory), and Tone Thyne (Wonder Pets), with production design by Tonko House (The Dam Keeper) and 3D animation by Superprod Studio (Pat the Dog).
