Netflix makes the Stranger Things arcade game you always wanted

Netflix has finally made that Stranger Things arcade game you wanted.
The streaming giant’s hit of last summer, Stranger Things has become something of a phenomenon since its unassuming premiere in June 2016, turning supporting character Barb into a sort-of celebrity, bagging multiple Golden Globes nominations and stealing the show in the awards ceremony’s opening musical number.
Now, though, Stranger Things is taking on Super Mario Run with an arcade game that perfectly captures the series’ 80s retro 8-bit vibe, right down to the horribly MIDI-rendered soundtrack. The run-and-jump game allows you to play as Mike Wheeler from the series, dashing from one side of the screen to the other and jumping (or double-jumping) to avoid sheriffs and evil scientists, all the while collecting Eggos.
Not a Stranger Things fan? The infinite runner format also allows you to play as Pablo Escobar running away from the authorities in Columbia, as range Is the New Black’s Piper Chapman trying to catch chickens, or as Marco Polo, presumably running to escape cancellation after its second season.
To play the game, which sits alongside Google Doodles as the ideal way to avoid work in the office, head to Flixarcade.netflix.io.
