Netflix delivers trailer for teen comedy The Package

Netflix is upping its teen movie game with the delivery of The Package this summer.
The streaming giant has increasingly invested in teen content, as it looks to win over its target audience. Everything from Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why to On My Block and Alexa and Kaie have proven popular with young viewers, but it’s not just TV shows that have been Netflix’s focus, with Netflix teen movies including Brahman Naman, Step Sisters, Deidra & Laney Rob a Train, Coin Heist and Alex Strangelove all helping to lead Netflix’s revival of the high school movie genre.
The Package is a camping comedy, which follows four teens on a spring break trip, only for an unfortunate accident to set off a race against time to save their friend’s most prized possession.
What exactly that prized possession is may not take much detective work, if you think about the subject matter, setting and pun-heavy title, but there’s potential for gross-out fun in that graphically novel premise. The film is written by Kevin Burrows and Mider, and is directed by Jake Szymanski (Mike and Dave Need Weddings Dates and Brooklyn Nine-Nine), with a cast that includes Geraldine Viswanathan, Sadie Calvano, Luke Spencer Roberts (Fear the Walking Dead), and a trio of Netflix original veterans: Daniel Doheny (Alex Strangelove), Michael Eklund (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) and Eduardo Franco (American Vandal).
From the creators of Workaholics and Tropic Thunder, The Package is delivered to Netflix on Friday 10th August. Here’s the trailer:
The Package is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
