Netflix has confirmed the release date for Marvel’s Daredevil, which will swing onto the streaming service in April 2015.
Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus), Jeph Loeb (Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods), the series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent DOnofrio, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.
The series will premiere on Netflix in all territories around the world on Friday 10th April 2015.
The creators of the show recently spoke to EW, saying that the show would be more like The Wire than a traditional superhero adventure.
“We really wanted to take our cue from [films like] The French Connection, Dog Day Afternoon, Taxi Driver, and make it very, very grounded, very gritty, very real,” DeKnight said. “We always say we would rather lean toward The Wire than what’s considered a classic superhero television show.”
Added Loeb: “There aren’t going to be people flying through the sky. There are no magic hammers.”
