It’s only October, but Netflix is already unwrapping the trailer for The Christmas Chronicles 2.
It’s been two years since siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son, Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel (Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Julian Dennison) threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus (Kurt Russell).
Written and directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter) and co-starring Goldie Hawn, the sequel lands on Netflix on 25th November. Could it possible live up to the unexpected brilliance of the first film? Here’s the trailer to give you a first glimpse:
Netflix’s The Christmas Chronicles 2 set for November release
15th September 2020
Netflix is reopening The Christmas Chronicles this November, with its sequel officially only a matter of weeks away.
Produced by Chris Columbus (Home Alone) and directed by Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie), The Christmas Chronicles followed sister and brother Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa – as you’ve never seen him before – and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late.
“Kurt Russell is your new favourite Santa in Netflix’s funny, surprising and charming Christmas adventure,” we wrote in our review of the movie.
Darby Camp and Judah Lewis will return alongside Kurt as Santa for The Christmas Chronicles 2, with Goldie Hawn co-starring Mrs Claus. They’ll be joined by Julian Dennison (The Hunt for the Wilderpeople) as Belsnickel, a magical troublemaker who tries to destroy Christmas – a threat that brings the gang back together to save the day.
You can witness the ensuing chaos on 25th November, when the film premieres on Netflix. Here’s the teaser announcing the release date:
